The TV channels are both transmitting at present on only 4kw power due to 2 of Tacolneston TV Transmitter Digital Multiplexes currently broadcasting on frq’s 53 & 60 respectively there, hence both Belmont(now fully digital) and Tacolneston (due for DSO in November 2011) frequency’s are clashing on 53 & 60.

After Wednesday 23 November 2011 when Tacolneston becomes fully digital, the two current frequencies it is transmitting 53 & 60 will be re-allocated there ending the frequencies clashing, enabling the two currently under strength Belmont Mux’s,ArqA (ch 53) and ArqB (ch60) to increase its power to 100kw.

Emley Moor Digital Switchover

Tomorrow Sept 21st 2011 is the 2nd and final stage of the Emley Moor TV transmitter digital switchover, all the old analogue TV transmissions will be turned off and the Digital TV signal power will be vastly increased.

This means if you haven’t already switched to digital your screens will be blank!!!!!!

However if you have prepared and upgraded all your TV equipment for the digital switchover tomorrow – then you will simply have to re-tune all your digital TV equipment as the current TV frequencies will be changing positions.

Sub £100 YouView boxes

BT and TalkTalk could sell set-top boxes for the YouView broadband TV service for as little as £80.

YouView, which will mix Freeview HD and Freesat HD PVRs with free and paid-for video-on-demand services, is planning to launch in early 2012.

BT and TalkTalk are partners in the service, along with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Freeview transmitter operator Arqiva.

It is reported that the two ISPs are expected to cut the cost of YouView boxes for customers who sign up to their broadband packages.

YouView chairman Lord Sugar is believed to be keen to keep the cost low to compete with the subsidised set-top boxes from Sky and Virgin.

Unsubsidised YouView boxes will also be available from retailers without a subscription, but are expected to cost around the £200 price of today’s Freeview and Freesat hi-def recorders.
